Reporting to the police

As an foreigner or outsider (lǎowài or wàiguórén) we have to register our residence at the local police station every time we re-enter China.

The office staff now know me, and try to deal with my application quickly even when overrun by locals applying for and collecting their new identity cards, which are being reissued right across the country.
